The Aquidneck Island Planning Commission seeks a part-time (50%)  Transportation Planner for a two-year commitment as project manager for a substantial corridor analysis project on Aquidneck Island

• • Training or experience in multimodal transportation including transit, bike, pedestrian, ferry, airport as well as vehicular transportation
  • Ability to bring partners from diverse agencies and the public together for well-planned, concise and informative meetings and events
  • Ability to manage a large project including tracking expenses and invoices in Excel or similar software package
  • Familiarity with context sensitive design, traffic calming, access management, roundabouts, shared use parking agreements, and other smart growth applications.
  • Experience in municipal zoning and land development regulations and their implications for traffic generation (knowledge of the link between land use and transportation)
  • Experience with RI Department of Transportation design standards and procedures strongly encouraged
  • ESRI ARC-Info GIS mapping for developing illustrative mapping a plus
  • Bachelors Degree in planning, engineering or allied field.  Masters Degree preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, project management experience
