Studies on the Impacts of LNG Tanker Transit in Narragansett Bay

Goal
The Aquidneck Island Planning Commission has produced two studies to determine the impacts to marine navigation, to the economy and to vehicle passage and emergency response as a result of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tanker transit in Narragansett Bay. The AIPC is not advocating either for or against LNG, but rather has conducted these studies from a planning perspective to better inform and prepare its constituent communities (Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport and Naval Station Newport) should LNG transit become a reality.

Objective
The AIPC's objective has been to inform and prepare the communities it represents so that they may effectively take steps toward mitigation for any identified negative impacts of LNG passage.

Studies
There are currently two studies that have been released by the Aquidneck Island Planning Commission:
