Transportation Planning

The organization has recently completed two major studies, the Island Transportation Study and the Regional Incident Traffic Management Program that will improve mobility and safety for island residents, commuters, and visitors.

Land Use Planning

AIPC provides land use expertise to the three Aquidneck communities.

It has helped the three Aquidneck communities plan for future development, incorporate smart growth elements into their local ordinances, and analyze water quality issues. Its signature effort is the West Side Master Plan - a comprehensive vision for the west side of Aquidneck Island.

Currently, AIPC is leading the effort to plan for the redevelopment and reuse of 225 acres of surplus land released by the US Navy.

Municipal Training

AIPC has provided training for the dedicated volunteers who serve on the municipal councils, boards, and commissions throughout Newport County.

GIS and Mapping

AIPC offers mapping and GIS analysis services to the three municipalities on the island as well as to other local groups.

The organization has conducted a residential build-out analysis for Middletown, and it has created bicycling and water recreation maps for island residents.
