Shoreline Drive Gateways Feasibility Study

In 2006, just 6 months after the launch of the West Side Master Plan, AIPC was awarded a $30,000 grant for a Feasibility Study to explore the “Gateways” to the proposed Shoreline Drive Corridor along the West Side of Aquidneck Island.

The Feasibility Study focused on the realignment of the Stringham/Burma Road “hairpin” intersection at the north end of the corridor, and explored the opportunities and constraints related to opening up the Simonpietri Drive connector to Coddington Highway. This proposed connector at the southern end of the corridor currently lies within the boundaries of Naval Station Newport between Gates 10 and 11 and is not open to the public..
